Television Signal Transmission/Propagation

The Picture & Sound both are transmitted through a Signal Antenna at the frequency difference of 5.5MHz.The picture signal is amplitude modulated and the sound at frequency modulated before transmission.

The Composite video signal is obtained from the output of TV camera or TV Broadcasting machines like U-Matic,Beta cam,Digital Video cassette player, recorder,Etc is Processed in the Control Room CRE unit/section in the TV Station before giving to TV Transmitter for telecast. The Sound is Obtained through one or more microphones in the TV studio room and then sent to the TV transmitter through an audio  console unit which as many inputs but one output. Here we observe that the have modulation transmission is used due to the reason that it reduces the effect of noise on the picture. The modulated signals are then combined in a combining network and then feed to the antenna for transmission on  specified allocated channel band for that area.

PICTURE ELEMENTS:
The video information in optical in nature and is an assemblage of a large number of tiny areas which represents the picture details on the TV screen. These Elementry Areas in which the picture  details broken are called as picture elements or pixels and represents the picture informations of tiny scene on  TV Screen.

PICTURE RESOLUTION:
The ability of an image for reproducing system to represent the fine structure of n object is called  as a resolution or its resoluting power.Therefor the scanning system which resolves the picture details in vertical horizontal directions is called as vertical resolution horizontal resolution receptively.
